Hempfield's team, along with nearly forty other teams, built and designed a 2' x 3' x 5' contraption with a minimum of 20 transitions, although Hempfield's contraption presented with 32 transitions, and the contraption must run for at least 30 seconds but no longer than 2 minutes. Each year a theme is given, and this year the teams had to "tell a story", and Hempfield chose to tell the fable of Humpty Dumpty and how he fell off of the wall. The team also had a skit involved with their contraption, Adam Podlazsewski as the investigating detective, Magi Vanderhoff took the role of Little Red Riding Hood, and Hunter Maholic as Little Boy Blue. These three students set up the contraption and answered questions for the judges, but there were a total of 17 students involved in building the contraption, but those three represented the group.
